God Loves Me So Much

GOD LOVES ME SO MUCH!!

This morning, students & staff began the week with a chapel based on the school theme: ROOTED IN LOVE. Ben Gillen from Innerkip Presbyterian Church with his musicians Gop and Lauren led us in music and message. We were reminded that our AMAZING, GREAT, AWESOME God wants to make His home in our hearts. We can trust Him, rely on Him always.
God invites us to have a direct personal relationship with Him, not a relationship through our parents, grandparents, teachers, pastors. They show us Christ's love, they walk alongside us in our walk, but we personally are welcomed into His arms. He LOVES us so much- His love is so wide, so deep, so high and so long!
We are challenged to encounter God's love in a fresh way today! In our living at school, at home, with our friends, our family and our community, we respond by showing others our love which mirrors Christ's love to us. God loves you and me!

MS Read-A-Thon!

We have officially begun!

We have begun to read in support of those who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis. Every day, 3 Canadians are diagnosed with this disease. But we can help!

Today was our kick-off assembly for the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Read-A-Thon. Each student is being asked to read and raise money in support of those who have been affected by MS. All proceeds go to the MS Society of Canada. We are encouraging students to register online and have people donate through the MS Read-A-Thon Website (MS Read-A-Thon). However, if you would prefer more paper copies like the one going home today, please send a note to school and your child`s teacher will make sure some are sent home.

Happy reading!

Come, play with us!

Come, Play With Us!

The beauty of our Kindergartens at Woodstock Christian School is that what we believe about our children guides our teaching. We believe that children are natural, curious learners created in the image of God!
Special times often occur in the classroom when we see learning connections and inspirations.... and in Kindergarten these are often seen in the children's play. Playing makes learning visible!
But, what is play? It is easy to recognize, but difficult to define! Albert Einstein said that, "play is the highest form of research."
In recent years, much research about the benefits of play has surfaced.  Play.......
■Expands intelligence;
■Is a testing ground for language and reasoning;
■Stimulates the imagination, encouraging problem solving;
■Helps develop confidence, self-esteem, a sense of strengths and weaknesses, and a positive attitude toward learning; and
■Is a significant factor in brain and muscle development.
As educators, we become learners as we observe, participate in and analyze this play. There is so much to learn about each child. Through this play process, we can see the gifts and challenges that our children have, prayerfully guide them and extend their learning.
On Thursday evening, at 7:30 our kindergartens will open their doors and provide an information evening giving you a sneak peek into our programs. All are welcome to come!

Rooted

As I pondered our school theme yet again this past week, I came across this on my Facebook page. I am so thankful that I am ROOTED IN LOVE…in CHRIST’S LOVE!!!Photo: ... just very quietly, just in this moment: I will rest in the present moment with I AM because this is where I find the rest of myself. I am loved … chosen by Christ I am known … named by Christ I am fearless … safe in Christ I am brave … always with Christ #QuietTime #PreachingGospeltoMyself #1000gifts

Un, Deux, Trois

The teachers at WCS love to use exciting, fun and new ways to teach the children.

Mrs. Martin (our VERY talented music teacher) is working with the students to teach them both French counting and music skills during a recent music class.

Looks like everyone is having a great time!

Restorative Justice Video Series Home/School Evening:

You are invited to our fourth monthly home/school evening focusing on restorative justice at WCS scheduled for

Thursday evening, January 23rd  from 7:30-9:00 pm.

This month we will be watching a 38 minute video  produced by the Pacific Region of the RCMP for the Community Justice Forum  entitled  "Planting the Seeds”  telling the story of how a community experienced healing through a formal restorative justice circle after several boys from a local school brought devastation to several neighbourhood homes. There will be time for relating this story to what happens at WCS in our commitment to be a restorative justice school.

Plan to join us for this informative, community- building evening!

PLEASE RSVP by Tuesday,  January 21th if you plan to come. We need 5 people to sign up for this event to happen.

You can email the school at

office@woodstockchristian.ca or call 519 539 1492

Skating

We had to reschedule our Annual Christmas Skate for the New Year.

Despite the delay it was a great whole school event.

Thank you to all the parents who came out to visit, tie skates and help the young children.

What a great tradition!
