The other day I was reading from Luke 18 with the Junior Kindergarten class. We were talking about how Jesus told the little children to come to him, even while his disciples tried to send them away. At the end of our Bible reading, the question prompt was "If you were one of the children who got to sit on Jesus' lap, what would you say to Him?" I asked the students that question and the responses I received served as a wonderful reminder of how we can approach our Lord in confidence at any time, thanks to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. In the circle they shared the following things: "I would say 'I love you'", "Thanks" (I asked, "For what?"- "For creating the world."), "I would give him a hug." How humbling, how innocent yet insightful. How often do I come to God in prayer and only end up asking Him for provision of needs, forgetting how he already knows all things? May this be a wonderful reminder to us all of how great our God is, yet how intimately he knows and cares for us.
